SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our iron ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Iron Ore administration functions, pellet processing and shipping facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla.

About the role
Reporting into the Lead Metallurgist, the Process Engineers’ core focus will fall equally across Plant Feed and Technical plant operations to ensure success of plant activities and processes.
In this role you will be responsible;
Formulation of feed blends for both the Direct Shipping Ore, Concentrator and Ore Beneficiation Plants
Medium to long term feed planning in consultation with the Feed Governance team
Feed reconciliation and investigating on adverse plant performance affecting product yield & quality
Provide technical support to the operations team for the day to day Operations across the OBP, Concentrator and Crushing & Screening Plants
Monitoring plant performance and adjusting control parameters, investigating / trouble shooting
Contribute to cost improvement and cost reduction projects
Conducting and reporting on reconciliations and metallurgical balances on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis
About your experience
As the role requires you to interact internal and external stakeholders, it is critical you have strong written and verbal communciation skills with the ability to articulate at all levels.
The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar position and have the below requirements;
Tertiary degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering or relevant qualifications
Previous experience with blend planning and feed governance would be advantageous however not a requirement
Strong working knowledge of primary metallurgy processes and primary processing within mining or similar industry
Demonstrated problem solving skills with a passion for outcomes
