Our Tunnel Systems team focuses on road tunnel, rail and other transport projects and integrates fire safety, tunnel ventilation, fire protection and mechanical engineering with industry leading specialists in each field. This integrated approach is unique and as the largest team of its type dedicated to transport infrastructure, puts us at the forefront of the industry in the Australia New Zealand region.
Our team sits in our wider Transport business. Together with our specialist fire team in the Property business, is proven successful; with a healthy growing workload of large and small projects. We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer, to join our Tunnel Systems Team, to help deliver our portfolio of projects and develop and grow our diverse team in Australia.
You will be based in Sydney or Melbourne, working on a range of projects across the Australia New Zealand region. Our clients include major contractors, government, transport owner operators and safety regulators.
You’ll be developing a mix of practicable and innovative fire strategies, developed from first principles, with an emphasis on safety, for a range of projects; leading the engineering analysis and negotiating with stakeholders. You will take a key role in commercial aspects of projects.
You must be flexible in your approach, at times part of a large team, in some cases leading specialist projects; at times based in client offices; reasonably available to travel around the region, and always working to high standards.

We are keen to hear from you, if you:
Tertiary qualifications in Fire Safety Engineering. Actively working towards chartered status.
5+ years’ experience in a consultancy environment
Ability to undertake key technical tasks independently across a broad range of projects, under the direction/review of a senior/principal engineer.
Develop knowledge of the Building Code of Australia (BCA)
Experience in applying fire safety engineering in the assessment of occupant evacuation, smoke management, structural fire protection, fire brigade intervention, and fire safety systems and measures
Knowledge of the application of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment for the development of appropriate fire safety strategies
Knowledge of Australian and international standards, codes and design guidance relevant to fire safety for infrastructure
Experience with Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) 3D modelling software
Ability to write high quality, clear and succinct reports
