Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a Mechanical Engineer vacancy that exists in the Assets and Engineering Department. This role will see you become an integral part of Smelter Projects team. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 5/2 4/3 roster.

As the successful candidate you will have:
Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering with 2-5 years mining and/or construction industry experience essential;
Project Management experience will be high regarded, specifically in managing budgets and schedules;
Experience with engaging and presenting to internal stakeholders as well as managing outside contractors;
Working within a team environment, however demonstrate the ability to work autonomously; and
A strong safety culture and work ethic are fundamental to your success in the role.
Working across two plants this role would include:
Performing engineering calculations, design reviews and minor drafting activities;
Source funding and approvals for projects through the Capital Management Framework;
Scoping, design, management, and compliance of mechanical capital projects within time and budget;
Effective tendering, procurement, and management of project sub-contractors;
Managing external suppliers, and ensuring compliance with site and statutory standards;
Provide support and mentoring to graduate engineers;
Management of project quality, including frequent inspections;
Provide regular and accurate project reporting and financial tracking; and
Completion and reporting on planned and ad-hoc safety inspections and audits.
