Veolia has an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Engineer Trainee to join our Resource Recovery team at Rocklea. Reporting into the Manager for Remediation Services, you will support the team across soil treatment and environmental monitoring tasks.
You have an analytical mindset and a can do attitude. You enjoy working in a team environment but also take initiative and work well autonomously. This will be a varied and interesting role that will provide you with the opportunity to gain hands on experience with a global leader in sustainability and environmental services. It a permanent, part-time role of 20 hours per week and would be well suited to a recent graduate or Engineering Student.
A snapshot of responsibilities include:
Environmental assistance of contaminated waste and contaminated soil projects principally in south east Queensland including conducting site visits, organising and coordinating contractors and ensuring jobs are run in accordance with all relevant legislation.
To carry out or supervise the assessment and treatment of waste, including dangerous good for material recovery or final end disposal.
Assist in the Supervision & administration of treatments at Ti Tree Bioenergy Facility and Wattle Glen Resource Recovery Facility.
Assist in the Environmental Monitoring tasks
With due regard to external and internal customer relationships ensure that all customers are dealt with in a professional & courteous manner and that Veolia Environmental Service’s commitment to meeting or exceeding customer expectations is upheld.
Support of the Market Development & Sales Manager in preparing written quotations and responding to tenders for contaminated soil and contaminated waste projects including on site/off site treatment, excavation, haulage and disposal elements
What you need to be successful:
Degree qualified in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Chemical Engineering
Drivers licence (manual)
Certificate IV in Waste Management (desirable but not essential)
A collaborative work style with the ability to adapt well to change
Strong oral and written communication skills
Effective time management and organisational skills
The ability to problem solve and think outside of the box
