About This Opportunity
Working alongside Professor Allan Paull, the Research Officer (Mechanical Engineer) will support the development of a flight test of an electrical propulsion system in the Centre for Hypersonics.
General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work with a team of researchers and students to achieve deliverables from research projects involving electric propulsion at supersonic speeds.
Maintain laboratories and equipment in safe and clean condition.
Conduct inductions, prepare risk assessments, and ensure users of laboratories and equipment are thoroughly trained.
This position reports to Professor Allan Paull and is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus. Renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, St Lucia is located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Our Ideal Candidate
Alongside a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field) with subsequent relevant experience, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
An ability and willingness to work effectively with staff, students and industrial partners.
Willingness to provide advice and develop electrical or telemetry systems for high-speed flight programs.
Ability to undertake experimentation in wind tunnels and promote and adhere to a positive safety culture.
Experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD, including propulsion concepts, advanced manufacturing and experimentation.

What We Can Offer
This is full-time, fixed-term position up to 2 years at Research HEW Level 6.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $80,784 - $86,768, plus super of up to 17% (the total package will be in the range of $94,517 - $101,519).
